Watch Now– The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power
The time is almost upon us: the epic saga of the prequel of The Lord Of The Rings is about to be unleashed.
And now super fans who have been anxiously awaiting the release of J. D. Payne and Patrick McKay’s The Lord Of The Rings: The Rings of Power have been rewarded with the news that the first two episodes of the series will be screened in selected cinemas for one night only, two full days before the main release on Amazon Prime Video on 2 September.
The announcement of the screening appeared to crash the Cinemark website as free tickets became available on Monday 22 August. However, although the tickets are free – and come with a $10 food voucher, snack fans – they are only available to Cinemark Movie Rewards members, so you’ll need to sign up online.Along with screenings in the U.S. and Canada, which will take place on Wednesday August 31, 7pm local time, the episodes will also be screened at various locations in the UK, Ireland, Argentina, Colombia, Australia, and New Zealand, although no further details have been given yet, as currently the website is down.
How to watch The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power for free
If a return to the Second Age of Middle-earth at the cinema isn’t possible, then from your sofa it is – and if you time it right, you can also watch it for free.
While normally, Prime Video costs £5.99 a month, by signing up to Amazon Prime at £7.99 a month, you can get all the benefits of Prime Video streaming plus extras, like free delivery on packages.
However, a free 30-day trial of an Amazon Prime membership is available, meaning that a viewing of the series is also possible, if you’re up for a bit of binge-watching.
The series premieres on Friday September 2 with two episodes, then there will be another weekly episode each Friday for the total of the eight-episode series. By our calculations, if you sign up for Amazon Prime on Thursday September 15, you’ll be able to catch up on the three previous episodes, and be able to follow the rest of the show until its finale on October 14.
There is a caveat though: if you’ve taken advantage of the free trial in the past, it might be tricker to get the test service again. Amazon allows existing customers the chance to check it out again just once a year, so it’s worth checking in with your account to see if it’s a goer.
Meanwhile, while the wait for the return to J.R.R. Tolkien’s mythical lands continue, let’s analyse the trailer in meticulous detail, shall we?
